Paw Paw’s Inspiration
I remember as a boy spending hours in my grandfather’s Texas studio, watching him paint.
He would arrange photos atop a clean canvas from various travels, usually from West Texas and South America, and piece together images from these scenes as if uncovering a collage that was just beyond human sight. I never got the chance to ask him how he knew he’d completed something, as it’s something I would eventually learn is an ever-present obstacle in composing.
